The Winery

At the present time our winery exists only in our imagination! However, this is always the first step in the creation of anything. First we need to get a wine business going, ie producing quality grapes, making quality wines, and marketing and selling them. Then we can invest in a winery :)

We have changed 'winery' 4 times in the 9 years that we've been making wine. This year we have the good fortune to be sharing a real winery in Morata de Tajuña (35 km from Madrid). This summer we may, if all goes well, be moving into our own winery in Carabaña. It'll be an industrial shed, but it'll be 'our' industrial shed! Not a pretty sight, but functional, and near the vineyards.

Our dream/ideal winery would be to build one from scratch using ecological materials and designed in an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient way; or to refurbish an old building in a similar way.

North-South orientation so as to maximise sunlight for heating
Energy-efficient design of structures and spaces
Energy-efficient water treatment facilities
Solar panels on roof to generate electricity for light and power
Use of natural ventilation for cooling
Environmentally friendly building materials
Gravity flow system for wine production
Etc, etc, etc...
